In News

On April 28, 2019, join YUSAPUY and fellow Canadian workers in observing the National Day of Mourning for Persons Killed or Injured in the Workplace.

On this day, we remember and honour the thousands of workers who have died, been injured or acquired an illness, while performing their work duties.

Everyday, employees take for granted that they will return home from work in good health. However, tragic workplace incidents that result in death, injury and illness, remind us of the risks and sacrifices that employees make, as they work to support their families, co-workers, employers, and our economy.

Lost lives and work-related injuries and illnesses have a profound impact on society. Therefore, on this National Day of Mourning, we also remember and honour the sorrow felt and hardships faced by the families, friends, co-workers and communities of employees, who were killed, injured or acquired a work-related illness.

All employees deserve the right to a safe workplace – they deserve the right to return home safe, sound, and in good health, after a day’s work.

Maintaining safety, preventing death, illness and injury on the job takes a community! So, we all play a vital role in carrying out safe workplace practices.

YUSAPUY is committed to creating, supporting and keeping our workplace safe for our members. We achieve this through:

• Reporting safety hazards in the workplace;
• Maintaining an active and well-trained Health and Safety Committee;
• Advocating positive and meaningful change in workplace policies and practices;
• Regular communications with our membership on Health and Safety issues.

On this National Day of Mourning: Remember, Honour, Support, and Act to achieve workplace safety.

• Signalement des dangers de sécurité sur le lieu de travail;
• Le maintien d’un Comité de Santé et de Sécurité bien formé et actif;
• Préconiser des changements positifs et significatifs dans les politiques et les pratiques;
