Purpose:
As per Article IV Section 2d) in the Constitution; The Membership Officer shall be responsible for YusApuY’s initial contacts with new employees eligible for membership. The Membership Officer shall maintain the membership records, supervise admittance at general membership meetings and verify the right to vote at elections.
Designation:
The incumbent is elected as the YusApuY Membership Officer for two calendar years (January to December) and is a volunteer position. The Membership Officer is an Officer of the union and shall also be designated a Union Steward (if not already a Steward).
Confidentiality:
The Membership Officer must sign a Confidentiality Agreement as s/he is privy to confidential information and discussions.
Role:
The Membership Officer is responsible for facilitating the YusApuY Orientation for all newly hired members on a bi-weekly basis. The bi-weekly orientation schedule set by the Office of Talent Acquisition and Development, Human Resources typically happens on Thursdays from 11:30am to 12:30pm throughout the year; this may change from year to year. This hour long session is during the Membership Officer’s lunch hour; however, additional union duty leave time may be applicable.
YusApuY Executive Board Meetings:
The Membership Officer is a voting member of the YusApuY Executive Board for two calendar years (January to December), following the Biennial General Elections and is therefore responsible for attending all Executive Board Meetings. The schedule (frequency, day and time) for Executive Board Meetings for the year is determined by the Executive Board at the two-day planning retreat held at the beginning of the year. Typically Executive Board Meetings happen in the evenings, outside of regular work hours and is therefore volunteer time.
