Paid Sick Days

Right now, YUSA Unit 2 members have zero paid sick days.
That means if you’re too sick to work, you lose pay for the day.
Unit 2 members are also the only unionized employees employed by the university with no paid sick leave, which puts our members behind everyone else.
What are we fighting for?
We are asking the university to provide three paid sick days per year to every YUSA Unit 2 member.
Why this matters
Even a small number of paid sick days makes a real difference:
- No one should have to choose between their health and their pay.
- It helps prevent illness from spreading at work by letting people stay home when they’re sick.
- It brings Unit 2 in line with all other unionized employees at the university having paid sick leave provisions.
What you gain if we win
If we are successful, Unit 2 members will have three paid days each year to recover from illness without taking a financial hit—providing basic income protection, fairness, and a healthier workplace for everyone.
