Hello, my name is Rosa Berdejo-Williams.
I am currently the Program Coordinator for the Transition Year Program. I have been a YUSA Member since July 2002. Over the years, I have worked in Student Client Services, Student Financial Services and the Office of Admissions. I have a great interest in keeping YUSA members informed and updated with all issues that are important to the collective, while keeping our newsletter relevant with important labour information for both on campus and off campus issues, political and otherwise.
I love to write and feel that in addition to providing relevant work/labour information, members would also appreciate information on personal well-being, health, family and other member services, served with a dose of humor.
Thanking you in advance,
It is my great pleasure to accept the Communications Committee nomination by my colleague Sheila Ferreira. I’m a proud YUSA member of over four years and I have more than 5 years of extensive communications and marketing experience working at York University. In my current role as Publications and Marketing Assistant in Housing Services, I provide support in the development and implementation of effective housing communications and marketing plans to increase students’ on-campus housing occupancy and retention rates. I am well versed in social media technologies, content development, and communications planning. I am excited for the opportunity to serve the YUSA community as Communications Committee. I am confident that my skills and experience will make great contributions to the YUSA Communications Team.
Thank you in advance for your support.
Communication runs into all aspects of an organisation to keep it alive and working. Lack of communication translates into a more stressful environment for the general members, the executive committee and others. Effective communication skills and a positive attitude will help me to drive the campaign of our cause, helping all of our YUSA members in a respectful manner. I will devote specific time for the responsibility assigned to me, and work around the clock for developing situations. I will work continuously for the improvement of the communication system. If given the opportunity, I will prove myself by doing, and I am sure that with my motivation and everyone’s help, I will become an integral part of the team. As part of the team, I will communicate with all the general members and find out the issues in communication they are facing. A lot of our members are unaware of different perks and benefits and how to use them. Policy changes and different matters of more interest like negotiations and ongoing bargains certainly needs to be communicated more frequently and effectively. I will initiate to find out available times to sit with general members of different programs and departments to talk more often on YUSA activities and improvements. I will improve the system in order to reach most of the members in social media making it more informative and accessible. I will make the contents of social media campaigns easier to understand and interesting for all of us. I will promote positive vibes about YUSA and its fight for rights to all members and others.
I look forward to working in the team.
